- Why is there a fee to recycle electronics?
- There is a fee for recycling most electronic equipment (cell phones and printer cartridges are free). These funds are used to offset the cost of collection, storage, and marketing of the materials. In most cases, items must be disassembled before they can be recycled, a labor-intensive process that often requires handling toxic substances.
- What is the fee for TKO to come and pick up my recyclables?
- We are more than happy to come by your residence or place of business to pick up any recyclables that you may have. The standard fee, for RESIDENTIAL pick-up in the Birmingham Metropolitan Area is $15.00.
- For BUSINESS and ORGANIZATIONS, the pick up fee can range from approximately $25.00 up to $100.00 (depending on pick-up location, amount of items to be picked up, etc.

- FACTA (for FACT Act) is the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act, a Federal law designed to reduce the risk of consumer fraud and identity theft created by improper disposal of consumer information.

- NAID® is the international trade association for companies providing information destruction services. Suppliers of products, equipment and services to destruction companies are also eligible for membership. NAID's mission is to promote the information destruction industry and the standards and ethics of its member companies.
